Course
Content: This course explores the socioeconomic role of the
agriculture industry; scientific and technological principles
of the agricultural industry; safety: tools, equipment and instruments;
integrated pest management; plant and/or animal growth and reproduction;
business skills and economical principles; marketing; human relations,
communication and leadership in the horticultural industry; plant
identification and classification; plant propagation; identification
of growing media and application of fertilizers; irrigation of
plants and turf; control of pests; control plant growth, harvesting
transporting and installation of plant materials; operation, repair
and maintenance of tools and equipment; and employability skills.
Prepares
students for employment as: Sprinkling System Irrigators,
Landscape Specialists, or Horticultural Workers, depending on
the program of study. Certificates will be awarded to students
exiting after completion of this portion of the program of study
(OCP A).
